🌍 Discover Guji, an exceptional terroir
Nestled in southern Ethiopia, the Guji region is now one of the most sought-after terroirs for specialty coffee lovers. Situated between Sidama and Yirgacheffe, Guji has forged its own identity thanks to a unique combination of high altitude (and therefore high density), a preserved forest climate, and deeply rooted traditional farming practices.
Guji coffees are renowned for their clarity in the cup and vibrant aromatic palette—profiles that often combine notes of juicy red fruits, delicate florals, and elegant sweetness.
We had a lot of coffees from South America this year and it is very interesting to find the profile of coffees from Africa, totally different from what we find in South America.
☕ Ancestral know-how for a cup of exceptional purity
Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, is distinguished by its production methods that remain deeply artisanal. Each cherry is picked and sorted by hand , a meticulous process that guarantees a rare uniformity and preserves only the ripest fruits. The difference that Ethiopian quality control makes can never be overstated: the dedication of Ethiopian producers to perfectly sort their coffee shines through in the cup through the clarity and definition of aromas, something you won't find elsewhere.
After harvest, the beans are slowly dried on raised African beds , exposed to the sun and turned regularly for even drying. This extreme care at every stage translates into the cup with unparalleled aromatic clarity and complexity —a unique signature that only Ethiopian coffees offer, and which is fully reflected in our Guji batches, whether natural or washed.
Discover the terroir of Ethiopian processes through our 2 lots
This year, we offer you a special and instructive opportunity: to discover Guji through two separate batches , from the same farm — one natural , the other washed .
-
This natural process , where the cherries are dried whole in the sun, offers a more indulgent and fruity cup, with a rich and velvety texture.
-
The washed process , meanwhile, brings out a lively acidity, remarkable clarity and an aromatic purity that is difficult to match elsewhere.
By tasting these two expressions side by side, you explore not only the talent of Guji producers, but also the fascinating influence of processing on the final taste. A true lesson in terroir and Ethiopian know-how!
