Electric Roasted Coffee ⚡️
This delicious and refreshing take on the classic cappuccino has only recently achieved world-wide recognition, but it has been enjoyed in some parts of Europe for decades. So, what’s the story behind this viral success? And how do you froth cold milk?
Despite both words: ‘cappuccino’ (a classic coffee recipe) and ‘freddo’ (meaning cold) being Italian in origin, the cappuccino freddo actually comes from Greece. Here the weather is typically warm all year round so drinking iced coffee throughout the year is usual. In Greece cappuccino freddos have been popular since the 1990s.
There are two distinct parts to this drink, and both have a particular, yet simple method of preparation.
The cappuccino freddo is a smaller drink, and the milk is foamed, rather than just being poured straight in. This cold, textured milk is very unique, making a cappuccino freddo very different to most iced coffee drinks. Because of this, the milk and espresso sit separately in the glass, only combining as the drink is consumed.
Using a lively, yet powerful coffee with velvety mouthfeel is a wonderful way to enjoy a cappuccino freddo. This Brazilian coffee has enough character to maintain a delicious flavor even when served cold.
